Lionel Messi‘s selfless nature on the pitch is known to all – his fans, his coaches and his team-mates as well.
But for the first time, the Barcelona genius has come out to admit that he has now become more of a team player than what he was few years ago.
Speaking to America TV, the 30-year-old said: “Before I got the ball and did my own game.
“Now I try to play for the team. That the ball goes via me more and I don’t try and finish things off as much.”
He added: “Basically I am not as selfish. I try to build the play from a different position.
“I continue to run the same as before but in a different way.”
Messi scored a brace and assisted Ousmane Dembele who scored his first Barca goal, against Chelsea, to take his team into the quarter-finals of the Champions League.
Barca have now been drawn against AS Roma and will play the first leg on April 4.
