  • Spanish champions Barcelona will take on the champions of South Africa, Mamelodi Sundowns, in a friendly on May 16 at FNB Stadium.

Ernesto Valverde‘s men have already clinched the La Liga title with four games to play, including the upcoming El Clasico against Real Madrid. This will be followed by Villarreal (May 9) at home, an away trip to Levante (May 13) and the final fixture against Real Sociedad (date still to be confirmed) at Camp Nou.

Keeping in mind the 2018 World Cup, the possibility of Barca superstars Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and other big names travelling with the squad for the trip to Africa remains unclear.

Meanwhile, it was eight-time ABSA Premiership champions Sundowns who announced on their Twitter about the encounter as they get ready to host the Blaugranas.

Barca will also face Tottenham, Roma and AC Milan in pre-season friendlies after the World Cup concludes, it has been confirmed.
