Lionel Messi‘s representative has denied claims made by Real Madrid‘s Sergio Ramos that the Barcelona star pressured referee Alejandro Hernandez Hernandez in the El Clasico draw.

Villarreal have confirmed that they will offer Barcelona a guard of honour when they face them at Camp Nou on Wednesday.

There was a lot of controversy that emerged after Real Madrid denied giving the La Liga and Copa del Rey champions the guard of honour during the El Clasico on Sunday.

Gerard Pique did though have a nice reply to the whole idea, as he asked Barca’s staff members to give them a guard of honour after the game ended 2-2.

Villarreal though, contrary to Los Blancos, believe the achievements of Ernesto Valverde‘s men deserved to be acknowledged and hence will go ahead with the ‘pasillo’.

Apparently, this wouldn’t be the first time Villarreal will be giving Barca a guard of honour.

During the 2009/10 season, after the Blaugrana had won the Club World Cup, the Yellow Submarine had followed the tradition, and ironically their manager during that time was Valverde himself.

Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi‘s representative has denied that the Argentina international in any way insulted the referee of the Clasico, Alejandro Hernandez Hernandez.

Earlier, Sergio Ramos had claimed that Messi had put pressure on the official during half-time, soon after Barca were reduced to 10-men following Sergi Roberto’s red card.

“Lionel never called the referee a name, or disrespected him,” said MARCA‘s source.

“He spoke with the referee on several occasions, as the television images showed.

“However, it was more on the pitch than in the tunnel.”

Meanwhile, Barcelona still remain unbeaten in La Liga and will now face Villarreal at Camp Nou on Wednesday.
