  • Cadena Cope have revealed that Barcelona have made clear to Atletico Madrid their intentions to pay Antoine Griezmann’s €100 million release clause.

“Barcelona have told Atletico Madrid they are going to pay Antonie Griezmann’s get out clause. And Atletico know the player will be leaving at the end of the season,” the Spanish radio station announced.

Griezmann’s future has become a hot topic of late as reports of a switch to Barcelona have intensified in recent weeks with the summer transfer window fast approaching.

Meanwhile, Atletico are gearing up for the Europa League final against Marseille next week.

Atletico president Enrique Cerezo brushed off reports that he met the player for dinner to convince him to stay.

“I can tell you one thing: Antoine Griezmann is an Atletico Madrid player as of today,” Cerezo said.

“I cannot tell you anything else because I do not know anything else.”

Barca coach Ernesto Valverde preached caution when asked about Griezmann this week.

“We have to be very cautious about saying anything about a player that is not ours and making sure we respect our rivals,” he added.
