Despite Barcelona‘s appeal to the Administrative Tribunal for Sport, right-back Sergi Roberto will miss the Spanish Super Cup clash against Sevilla due to suspension.

The Spaniard was handed a four-match ban after being involved in an incident with Real Madrid defender Marcelo, during El Clasico played on May 6, which ended 2-2.

A report on Iusport.com suggests that the incident was viewed as an act of aggression and not unsportsmanlike conduct. The ban, therefore, has been upheld.

“We must conclude that with only the allegations of the player, and no images or proof otherwise, that the referee’s verdict cannot be called into question. For that reason, as the appeal can’t be proven to be fact, the attributed sanction handed down to the player will remain the same,” added TAD.

The 26-year-old has already missed three games so far – he was not named in the squad for Barca’s fixtures against Villarreal, Levante and Real Sociedad last season.

6:00pm – France star offered to Barcelona

Paul Pogba of Manchester United2

Fresh off a starring performance in France’s triumphant World Cup run, Paul Pogba is being linked with a move to Barcelona.

1:30pm – Potential Cillessen destination revealed

Jasper Cillessen

Liverpool are monitoring Dutchman Jasper Cillessen as they continue their search for a new goalkeeper.

The goalkeeping position has been a problem area for the Reds, as first-choice man Loris Karius continues to produce error-strewn displays and backup keeper Simon Mignolet hasn’t looked convincing when he’s been the No1 option.

Cillessen has grown frustrated at the lack of first-team opportunities at Barcelona, with Marc-Andre Ter Stegen’s outstanding form relegating the 29-year-old to a bit-part role.

PSG have made Barcelona target Adrien Rabiot untouchable this summer, according to Marca

The Frenchman has been identified as one of Barcelona’s priority signings, and it was hoped a deal would be easy to negotiate given the 23-year-old is in the final year of his current contract.

However, PSG are hoping to tie the midfielder to a contract extension and insist they will not be forced to sell.

PSG are also reluctant to enter into talks with Blaugrana after being unimpressed with the Spanish club’s tactics when trying to sign Marco Verratti last summer, and relations soured further after Neymar’s world-record move to the French capital.

Adrien Rabiot is a target for Barcelona.

Paris Saint-Germain have made Barcelona target Adrien Rabiot untouchable this summer, according to Marca

Rabiot has been identified as the priority target to strengthen Blaugrana’s midfield after the departures of Andres Iniesta and Paulinho. That, too, even after a deal for Brazilian midfielder Arthur was concluded.

It was hoped a transfer would be easy to negotiate given Rabiot is in the final year of his current contract. However, PSG are hoping to tie the midfielder to a contract extension and insist they will not be forced to sell – a message likely being sent as much for Real Madrid‘s benefit as Barcelona’s, given Madrid’s rumoured interest in Neymar and Kylian Mbappe.

PSG are also reluctant to enter into talks with Barcelona after being unimpressed with the Spanish club’s tactics when trying to sign Marco Verratti last summer.

Relations between the two clubs soured further after Neymar’s world-record move to the French capital from Barcelona last August.
