Barcelona left-back Lucas Digne could join Everton this summer after new Toffees boss Marco Silva confirmed his interest in the Frenchman.
The 25-year-old, who has been deemed surplus to requirements at Camp Nou with Jordi Alba as the standout first-choice defender in his position, according to Sport, is allowed to leave the Catalan giants for a fee in the region of €16 million (Dh68m).
Everton have apparently not yet shown they are willing to meet Barca’s price demand for Digne but they desperately need to bring in defensive reinforcements on the left-hand side of their defence.
With club stalwart Leighton Baines turning 34 this year, Digne is a ready-made long-term replacement for the ageing star.
