  • End of an era: Cristiano Ronaldo said goodbye to Real Madrid this week.

Cristiano Ronaldo is unlikely to play for new team Juventus when the Serie A giants face Real Madrid in the International Champions Cup on August 5 at the FedEx Field, Washington.

Following his World Cup exertions with Portugal, the Turin club’s new record €99m signing will not begin pre-season training until at least July 30.

He will therefore miss Juventus’ first three outings in the United States; against Bayern Munich (July 26), Benfica (July 28) and a meeting with an MLS XI on August 2.

It is also expected five or six days of training for Ronaldo won’t be enough for him to be risked for an immediate clash with Real Madrid – the club he left this week after nine vintage years.

Last season, according to Marca, the 33-year-old completed at least nine days training after his holiday before competing in his first match of the new season – the UEFA Super Cup against Manchester United in Macedonia (August 2017).
