  • Leicester were the obvious success story this year.

With Saturday’s FA Cup final wrapping up what has been an extraordinary season Andy Gray and Richard Keys, who front beIN Sports’ Premier League coverage, give their verdicts on each of the league’s teams with a score out of 10.

What do you make of the duo’s thoughts and who do you think had the best and worst seasons in the Premier League?

    LEICESTER CITY

AG: This has been an absolutely refreshing season with Leicester playing proper football and none of this pass-fest rubbish. They played dynamic, attacking football and are worthy champions. If they take this style of football into the Champions League next season and not try to change what they do just because it’s Europe they will have half a chance. 10

RK: The Foxes broke the mould and I agree with Andy in thinking if they can take their brand of football and belief into the Champions League, I don’t see any reason why they can’t go on and shake up Europe. I give them 11 out of 10.

    ARSENAL

AG: A season that promised so much pre-Christmas and yet again delivered another consolation prize. I think Arsene Wenger will still be there next season but the club is approaching a cross-roads where some big decisions are going to have to be made. 7

RK: They were my tip to win the league and they finished well but they always cause themselves problems with their mid-season form. Disappointing. 8

    TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR

AG: What was almost achieved was probably far more than was expected and the positives that have come out of the season for Tottenham mean that with just a little bit of tweaking they can again challenge for the title next season. 9

RK: Terrific up until the last month when they were poor. However, across the season, they were good to watch. 8

    MANCHESTER CITY

AG: They had the best group of players in the league when the season started and were my favourites to win the title and I really don’t know what happened. There is a big job ahead for Pep Guardiola next season. 5

RK: For me, they are serial underachievers and a massive disappointment. Guardiola will need at least six new players next season. 5

    MANCHESTER UNITED

AG: Champions League was the minimum to expect considering the amount of money spent and the quality of their football was poor so, for me, Louis van Gaal failed. 6

RK: United weren’t very good but at least, unlike their neighbours, they tried hard. Whatever United are they had a go and it will be interesting to see if Van Gaal is still there next season. 6

    SOUTHAMPTON

AG: But for a really poor six weeks from the end of November to the beginning of January when they took four of 24 points available they would have been pushing for a top four finish. Ronald Koeman managed to turn it around, they finished strongly and have, once again, been impressive. 8

RK: Brilliant season. I like Koeman and the way his team goes about playing the game. 8

    WEST HAM UNITED

AG: Slaven Bilic managed to keep the Hammers competitive right through the season but eventually ran out of gas – there’s much to be positive about next season. 7

RK: Bilic had a fantastic season and although Dimitri Payet came up short at the end of the season he gave us plenty to admire. 9

    LIVERPOOL

AG: Jurgen Klopp has done some good things since replacing Brendan Rodgers but the expectancy that arrived with him has been a little bit OTT. There’s something to build on but a long way to go. 5

RK: Klopp has got lots of work to do and now they haven’t got Champions League football it’s going to be interesting to see which players he will manage to bring in. They are still ordinary. 7

    STOKE CITY

AG: I expected more from Stoke but they fell off the radar at the end. 5.5

RK: The season ended in February for Stoke after a promising start. I don’t think they were any better than the last season. 6

    CHELSEA

AG: Dismal defence of their title and finishing mid-table just isn’t good enough. The players got rid of Jose Mourinho but then they just didn’t deliver. 3

RK: Pathetic. This was the worst title defence of all time. Individuals like Eden Hazard need to take a long hard look at themselves. They should be ashamed. 4

    EVERTON

AG: People were telling me that the current Everton squad was the most talented since the days when I played for the club when we were winning things. If that’s the case, to finish 11th is not good enough and Roberto Martinez deserved to go. 3

RK: Everton are better than we saw but I think the players downed tools and played Martinez out which I sort of understand. 4

    SWANSEA CITY

AG: At one point it looked like they were heading for a disastrous season but they got their act together and finished quite positively. 5.5

RK: They were a bit in and out and I was surprised when they got rid of Garry Monk. One of the unsung heroes for me is Alan Curtis who did a great job when he was in charge. 6

    WATFORD

AG: It’s important when you come into the EPL from the Championship to get as many points in the bag early in the season and then hang on in there which is what Watford did. 8

RK: Fantastic season and I cannot believe they have parted company with Quique Sanchez Flores. 8

    WEST BROM

AG: Tony Pulis might have to work on the style of football his team plays but they did enough to ensure their Premier League status. 5

RK: West Brom are probably better than where they finished but Pulis always does a solid job. 7

    CRYSTAL PALACE

AG: They started strongly and then fell away dramatically. I think the fact they have had a good FA Cup run and are in today’s final has kept the pressure off Alan Pardew. They need more consistency. 4.5

RK: The second half of the season when they flirted with the relegation zone was disappointing. 5

    BOURNEMOUTH

AG: For them to ensure their EPL safety with weeks to spare was impressive, particularly as they had to absorb injuries to their best players early in the season. 7

RK: In their own way a season every bit as successful as Leicester’s. They are all heroes and I couldn’t be more pleased for them. 9

    SUNDERLAND

AG: Poor first half of the season but things improved dramatically when Sam Allardyce turned up and managed to drag them out of the relegation zone. 7

RK: I know they escaped relegation by the skin of their teeth but what a finish! Allardyce provided a masterclass in survival. 8

    NEWCASTLE UNITED

AG: They took a chance with Steve McClaren and it backfired. Rafa Benitez came in and did okay but it was too little, too late. 3

RK: They wasted a lot of money on players who never delivered and got what they deserved. 3

    NORWICH CITY

AG: I thought their experience would ensure their survival but they never got going. 4

RK: Not good enough to survive but they might bounce straight back. 5

    ASTON VILLA

AG: From start to finish my old club were absolutely shocking. I’ll give them a point for turning up for the games. 1

RK: I am tempted to give them nothing after a dismal season. If the new owner thinks he is going to turn Villa into a top four club in three years he is going to be bitterly disappointed. 1
