  • Ruud Van Nistelrooy is remembered as one of the most lethal goalscorers the Premier League has ever seen. Following two league titles at PSV, his ability to find the back of the net attracted attention from Manchester United.

His move was delayed by a year due to injury concerns but he finally signed for the club for a then British record fee of £19 million in 2001 and made his debut on this day, 15 years ago.

A trophy-laden spell at United follow where he won the Premier League, FA Cup, Football League Cup and FA Community Shield. Van Nistelrooy scored 150 times in just 219 games for United.

1935: Babe Ruth’s final game at Fenway Park, 41,766 on hand.

1964: Mickey Mantle switch-hits HR record 10th & final time in a game.

1972: Ian & Greg Chappell both scores centuries in same Test Cricket innings.

2007: 89th PGA Championship: Tiger Woods shoots a 272 at Southern Hills Country Club.
