  • Big weekends: Mkhitaryan, Heaton, Matip and Lukaku.

The Premier League now heads into an international break after three weeks of action and once again did not disappoint.

From Manchester United’s dramatic late win at Hull, to Liverpool and Tottenham’s ferocious encounter, and Manchester City’s first-half show against West Ham, there was action at every turn.

Sport360 takes a look at five of the biggest talking points of the past weekend.

    Mkhitaryan pushing for a start

Anthony Martial has made a subdued start to the season while Juan Mata has plodded along much like Wayne Rooney has.

But Henrikh Mkhitaryan changed the dynamics of Man United’s win over Hull from the bench and his enterprise in the No. 10 role will surely see the summer buy start the Manchester derby.

Matip is worth a lot to the Reds

Joel Matip cost Liverpool nothing but the centre-back is already proving how priceless he is to The Reds.

In his Premier League debut against Spurs, the Cameroon international was combative and composed, forming a solid partnership with Dejan Lovren.

Defence has been a problem area for Klopp but perhaps not for much longer.

Lukaku firing a blank in front of goal

A Euros hangover has hit Romelu Lukaku hard.

The Belgium international stretched his EPL goalless run to 10 games – he’s not registered an assist in that time either – after another insipid display against Stoke.

But after a summer of transfer speculation, his future is now with Everton so it’s only a matter of time before he breaks his duck.

Tom Heaton putting pressure on Hart

Joe Hart is now Man City’s third-choice goalkeeper and you would imagine that will put his position as England No1 under severe threat.

That will be under even more scrutiny after Burnley’s Tom Heaton saved their blushes in defeat to Chelsea with a string of impressive saves to demonstrate his capabilities as England’s future No. 1.

Mahrez must be taken off penalties

The Algerian flyer missed his third penalty in his last four in the league and having been taken off them in January last term, Claudio Ranieri has to make a permanent change.

His latest effort, while woeful, could have cost Leicester as Swansea got it back to 2-1. Had he have scored, it would have been game over.
