The European fixture left Fantasy Premier League managers with plenty to chew on.

Below are the three midfielders you may want to draft in as soon as possible and also a look at why you should captain Philippe Coutinho this week.

But first, a shout out to these tactical geniuses who top our Sport360 fans league going into this week!

    WHO TO PICK AS CAPTAIN

Jermain Defoe [7.5m] was the pick last week and those of you who were brave enough to back the Sunderland striker, would’ve benefited from his 11-point return. The Englishman however faces Liverpool away next which is why it’s their star player worth backing this time around.

Philippe Coutinho [8.8m] scored 29 points in the three gameweeks prior to a frustrating 0-0 draw away to Southampton. Expect the Reds and the Brazilian to get back to their goal-plundering ways as they host relegation-threatened Sunderland at Anfield.

David Moyes’ side are on the up after back-to-back wins but Liverpool’s exuberant style of play under Jurgen Klopp could prove to be irresistible. Furthermore, Coutinho has managed to find the net in three of his last four home games.

Roberto Firmino [8.8m] is equally likely to be among the points as well.

    THREE MIDFIELDERS TO DRAFT IN

JUAN MATA [Manchester United – 7.5m]

For a midfielder to who consistently scores and assists as much as Juan Mata does, 7.5m is an absolute steal. The problem with the Spaniard is that he hasn’t been a regular starter under Jose Mourinho but that appears to be changing rapidly as he continues to deliver the goods.

Following on from his goal against Arsenal, Mata scored in the 4-0 Europa League win over Feyernoord as well and is expected to start against West Ham United at home on Sunday.

Apart from facing Tottenham in Gameweek 15, United have a very favourable run of games in December and that should see the diminutive playmaker rack up a few points.

    PEDRO [Chelsea – 7.2m]

Chelsea face Spurs this weekend before taking on Manchester City next but given that he’s valued at just 7.2m, it’s worth getting Pedro in as soon as possible.

The Blues have a phenomenal run of fixtures in December before facing a challenging schedule in January so it would serve you well to capitalise on their games during the festive period.

If you don’t have Eden Hazard in your side or can’t afford to bring him in, Pedro standout as a superb alternative. He’s scored 41 points in the last five rounds.

MATT PHILLIPS [West Brom – 5.2m]

If value is what you want, look no further than Matt Phillip. The winger has emerged as a real threat in the final third over the past couple of weeks.

He’s getting forward a lot more and consistently finds himself in the penalty area.

Phillips could even deliver immediately with Hull City to face this weekend while the Baggies host Watford next.
