  • Stones struggles: It's not been easy for the centre-back.

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has received plenty of criticism since his arrival in England, mainly because of his team’s poor defensive solidity and a few goalkeeping howlers.

While goalkeeper Claudio Bravo has not had the kind of season he would have liked, after his arrival from Barcelona, the defensive line has had their own worries.

Defender John Stones, rated very highly in terms of potential by experts, has been at the heart of it. And our friends at Whoscored.com have pulled out an interesting stat that lists players who have made the most errors leading to goals this term.

And it’s no surprise to see who’s leading the list.

Stones has made three mistakes that have led to goals being conceded while the others in the list have two each. The names include – West Brom’s Darren Fletcher, Chelsea’s Gary Cahill, Swansea’s Jordi Amat and Bournemouth’s Simon Francis.

Well, all we can say is, Stones would certainly want to improve his defensive abilities if he doesn’t want to warm the bench. And most of all, justify the faith of his boss and experts as well.
