  • Dele Alli’s rise to stardom over the last two seasons has delighted everyone at Tottenham, who took a chance by bringing the young midfielder in from MK Dons.

The youngster has repaid Spurs’ faith by becoming one of the Premier League’s most potent attacking forces, scoring some wonderful goals and linking up well with Harry Kane and Christian Eriksen.

Alli marked his 50th Premier League appearance by scoring twice in Spurs’ impressive 4-1 win at Southampton at the end of December. After the game, it emerged that he had more goals and assists after 50 Premier League appearances than Paul Scholes, Steven Gerrard, or Frank Lampard, among others. It’s no wonder that he’s already considered one of the best young players in Europe.

As the stats show, the 20-year-old has quickly risen to the top among young playmakers in Europe’s top five leagues. It’s a remarkable rise for a player who less than two years ago was plying his trade in England’s third tier.

Tottenham may soon face a fight to keep Alli, and there have already been rumours linking him to clubs like Real Madrid, but for now, Spurs fans will get to enjoy watching the youngster continue to excel and fulfill his potential.
