If Romelu Lukaku moved from Everton to Manchester United for £75million it would be the most expensive transfer ever between two Premier League clubs.

Here, we look at the record completed deals between English sides.

1. FERNANDO TORRES (Liverpool to Chelsea, £50m, 2011)

The Spain striker left Liverpool after becoming disillusioned with life at Anfield but his choice of Chelsea was contentious from the start and it never paid off as he endured an unhappy time in London despite winning the Champions League, Europa League and FA Cup.

2. RAHEEM STERLING (Liverpool to Manchester City, £49m, 2015)

Another player who became frustrated at Liverpool after his relationship deteriorated with manager Brendan Rodgers and the club. The Reds managed to extract top price for the youngster, however.

3. JOHN STONES (Everton to Manchester City, £47.5m, 2016)

The centre-back international became the most expensive English defender when he made his short move from Merseyside to Manchester.

4. JUAN MATA (Chelsea to Manchester United, £37.1m, 2013)

After falling out of favour with then manager Jose Mourinho the Spain international switched London for Manchester for more game time.

5. ANDY CARROLL (Newcastle to Liverpool, £35m, 2011)

Signed with some of the money from the Torres deal, Carroll never looked a good fit at Liverpool and struggles with injury did not help.

6. SADIO MANE (Southampton to Liverpool, £34m, 2016)

Liverpool raided regular trading partners Southampton again to bring in the pacy Senegal attacker who was an instant hit.

7. CHRISTIAN BENTEKE (Aston Villa to Liverpool, £32.5m, 2015)

The big Belgium striker was Brendan Rodgers’ primary transfer target in the summer of 2015 and the club backed him despite believing he was over-priced. Three months into the new season Rodgers was sacked and Benteke’s chances started to diminish. He has now moved on to Crystal Palace.

8. DIMITAR BERBATOV (Tottenham to Manchester United, £30.75m, 2008)

Tottenham complained about quotes attributed to then United boss Sir Alex Ferguson stating Berbatov would join them before the new season. Ferguson denied the comments and Berbatov signed anyway.

9. WAYNE ROONEY (Everton to Manchester United, £30m, 2004)

United paid what was then a record sum for a player under the age of 20 when they brought in Rooney from Everton but they got their money’s worth as he went on to become the club’s highest goalscorer.

10. RIO FERDINAND (Leeds to Manchester United, £30m, 2002)

The former West Ham defender moved from Leeds to their most bitter rivals after a stellar performance at the 2002 World Cup finals. The deal made Ferdinand the world’s most expensive defender for the second time at that point.

Paul Pogba and Romelu Lukaku are the best of mates – and the soon to be Manchester United team-mates – have a friendship that extends beyond the pitch.

Indeed, the two footballing stars have holidayed together in the USA for consecutive summers and undoubtedly have both discussed playing at the same club.

Now, that ‘dream’ is very close to becoming a reality after the Red Devils had a bid of £75m accepted by the Toffees. Last summer it was Pogba making the big move, now it’s role-reversal.

Here, we take a look at their friendship in closer detail and the links between the two 24-year-olds.

HOLIDAYING TOGETHER IN LA

This summer the pair have been holidaying once again in Los Angeles – enjoying some chilled time by the pool, on the basketball court, 5-a-side pitch and taking in the LA nightlife.

Both players have been active on social media, giving fans an insight into what they’ve been up to.

For instance (below), Pogba has been showing off some dance moves while Lukaku went in search of the famous Hollywood sign.

We’re all going on a summer holiday.

JULY 4TH CELEBRATIONS

The players have been making the most their vacation time before they have to return to pre-season training and took in July 4th celebrations – America’s Independence Day – stateside.

Pogba, sporting a Kevin Durant NBA jersey, uploaded a video on Tuesday giving fans more than a glimpse of what their day was like with food, fitness and down time.

THEY HAVE THE SAME AGENT

Yeah, you guessed it – the famed Mino Raiola looks after both players’ dealings.

The Italian is known for getting the very best financial package for his clients and generally will deliver that at any cost.

It looks like he has brokered a top financial package for Lukaku at Old Trafford and got his striker the dream move to a big club that he desired. Indeed, the fact he did the same for Pogba at the very same club last summer, probably helped negotiations.

MIAMI LAST YEAR

The duo’s solo basketball drills against each other were the talk of social media this time last summer, as was Pogba’s proposed to Manchester United from Juventus.

The Frenchman and Belgian both showed they have silky skills with a ball in their hand and it seems like a bit of Déjà vu as once again, one of them is closing in on a huge summer move.

Marcus Rashford.

While some professional footballers are still lying on sunny beaches enjoying their holidays, Manchester United star Marcus Rashford has been putting in the hard yards during his summer break.

The 19-year-old spent the last week going through a gruelling bootcamp under the tutelage of Nike coach Jamie Reynolds as he eyes a starting place at Old Trafford next season.

In this short video, Reynolds filmed highlights of the England international as he went through a series of speed, strength and stamina exercises at the Nike World Campus in Portland.

Jose Mourinho’s side will begin their pre-season tour of the United States on July 15 with games against LA Galaxy, Real Salt Lake, Manchester City, Real Madrid and Barcelona.

They will then face Valerenga in Oslo, and Sampdoria in Dublin on August 2, before the Premier League kicks off again on August 12.
