  • FAB FOUR ARE UNSTOPPABLE

It’s early days but Liverpool’s new ‘fab four’ – Sadio Mane, Robert Firmino, Mo Salah, and Philippe Coutinho are unstoppable.

Clearly this was not a Bayern side at their best but with Mane, Firmino and Salah marauding forward at will, and perfectly supplied by the little master, Coutinho, they cut the German champions to shreds.

They had two goals within the first 35 minutes and looked to take their foot off the gas a little after that or it may have been more. Mane’s back heel to set up Salah’s goal was especially sumptuous.

Defenses in the EPL and Europe will be singing “Help” a lot this season when this quartet begins charging at them.

    RENATO SANCHES NOT THE ANSWER

With Liverpool’s chase of Naby Keita looking like a lost cause, the 19-year- old Portuguese was thrown up as an alternative. But as auditions go this was a wipe-out.

He may want out of Bayern but the Bavarian giants will have a real trouble off-loading him after this performance. He was made to look second rate by the Liverpool midfield which, apart from Coutinho, is not world class.

Sanches looks like a player at the moment lacking in two things – confidence and ability.

    LIVERPOOL DEVELOPING WINNING HABIT

Yes, they are just trial games but back-to-back 3-0 score lines against top six teams from the Bundesliga helps to build the winning habit. Winning, as Chelsea showed last season and Leicester showed the year before that, is as much about confidence and belief as skill and speed and Liverpool are fast developing both qualities.

Yes, the scorelines flattered the Reds and in both games they were very lucky not to concede, but they didn’t (even with their obvious defensive frailties) and with just two more matches to go before the start of the Premier League Klopp will be delighted by his team’s form.

He may not get Keita or Virgil Van Dijk from Southampton but on these performances some would say he doesn’t need them.

But these games are being played without pressure and the next test comes when the pressure starts to mount – will the winning habit hold? Remember Liverpool also beat Barcelona 4-0 at a similar time last year.
