Manchester United star Paul Pogba feels he is close to fulfilling his full potential and is ready to shoulder the burden of guiding the Reds to a first domestic title since 2013.

With the tag of being the world’s most expensive player now with Neymar and after settling back in the Premier League following his mega-move from Juventus last summer, Pogba is firmly of the belief he has developed into the player many people thought he would.

“Now I’m back and happy to be back. I grew up a lot in Italy and I have come back as a man,” the 24-year-old told the Manchester Evening News on Tuesday.

“My dream was to play for this club and when I finished (in 2012) I always felt like I had missed something at Manchester United because I wasn’t a first XI player.

“Last season the first question from everyone was always all about the price tag. Now everyone is asking about the football. That tells you everything,” Pogba said.

Indeed, the acquisition of Nemanja Matic – giving the Frenchman a midfield shield and license to go forward – should mean we see the best of Pogba over the next nine months.

Playing alongside best pal, Romelu Lukaku, too – is a match made in heaven for the France international as the two look to spearhead Jose Mourinho’s men’s league campaign and their return to the Champions League.

He said: “I came here to win the Premier League and to challenge myself as well. Winning the Premier League is what matters.

“I am always confident. I always give my best and now it is my second season. I know more about the Premier League and I adapt more with the team. It is about the team.

“When the team performs well, the players perform well too. I am confident for the team this season.”
