  • The Brazilian is still a Chelsea player despite interest from Atletico.

Chelsea may find it more difficult to keep tabs on AWOL striker Diego Costa now after the Spaniard deleted his Instagram account.

The 28-year-old was told via text message this summer by boss Antonio Conte that he had no future at the Stamford Bridge club – despite playing a key role in the club’s Premier League success last term.

Conte and Costa were reportedly involved in a furious row but the striker was unable to force a dream return move to Atletico Madrid in the transfer window.

The reasons why he decided to discard his social media profile on Instagram, which had 2.3 millions followers, are not known – but the Blues were believed to be following his activity – which included several videos of Costa training in the gym and on the treadmill.

While Costa was surprisingly named in Chelsea’s 25-man Premier League squad for this campaign, he is still in his hometown of Lagarto in Brazil and is being fined approximately £300,000 each and every two weeks he is absent.
