Liverpool's Mohamed Salah leads shortlist for PFA Player of the Year with Man United star in the mix

  • Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah, Tottenham striker Harry Kane and Manchester City playmaker Kevin de Bruyne are among the six names shortlisted for the PFA Player of the Year award.

    After already scoring 29 goals in the Premier League, Salah, who moved from Roma, has been instrumental in keeping Liverpool inside the top four and is favourite to win the award.

    Here we take a look at all six candidates.

    KEVIN DE BRUYNE (Manchester City)

    The Belgium playmaker has flourished in Pep Guardiola’s system, with his killer final balls and goal-scoring providing some of the most memorable highlights of City’s march towards the title.

    DAVID DE GEA (Manchester United)

    A string of outstanding performances and improbable saves have made De Gea a key figure in United’s league campaign.

    HARRY KANE (Tottenham)

    The England frontman may come up short to Salah in his bid for a third successive Premier League Golden Boot but looks set to fire Spurs to a top-four finish once again.

    LEROY SANE (Manchester City)

    One of two players, along with Kane, nominated for both the main award and young player of the year, the winger has popped up with nine goals and 12 assists in his second Premier League season.
