  • Tottenham moved a step closer towards securing Champions League football next season by overcoming Watford 2-0 at Wembley Stadium on Monday night.

The win takes Mauricio Pochettino’s men within just one point of third place Liverpool with two games in hand, while Spurs are five points clear of fifth-placed Chelsea.

    Here, we rate the Whites…

Hugo Lloris 6 – Made fantastic save to deny Andre Gray late in the first-half, displaying his alertness to come up trumps when called upon. Had little else to do.

Kieran Trippier 7 – Lack of pace meant it was a struggle against the trickery of Richarlison but did produce sublime delivery in second period for Kane to score.

Jan Vertonghen 7 – The Belgian dealt with the threat of the Hornets’ pacey attack with relative ease and is ending his best campaign yet in a Whites jersey strongly.

Davinson Sanchez 6 – Solid enough but needs to improve aerially as he becomes more accustomed to the physicality of English football.

Ben Davies 7 – Another consistent performance by arguably the Premier League’s left-back of the season.

Eric Dier 6 – Not a vintage display for the England international and needed to do more as the hosts struggled at times to gain a foothold in midfield.

Mousa Dembele 5 – Trudged off injured in the second-half, and with uncertainty surrounding his Spurs future, it could possibly of been his last appearance for the club.

Christian Eriksen 6 – The creative maestro claimed his 10th Premier League assist of the season with a nice cutback for Dele Alli. Always seems to have an impact on proceedings.

Dele Alli 7 – Showed great composure to open the scoring and once again seems to be growing in maturity, despite taking critics from all angles.

Son Heung-min 5 – Quiet game and struggled to get on the ball in dangerous areas in the final third. Lacked the usual energy we’re so used to seeing from the South Korean.

Harry Kane 7 – Scored deadly one-touch strike in second period and easily could have a hat-trick had he not miscued an effort following a brilliant Vertonghen free-kick, and then had strike ruled out for off-side.

    Substitutes

Eric Lamela 5 – Subbed on for Alli late on but had little time to make an impact.

Victor Wanyama 5 – Picked up an unjust yellow card moments after entering the fray for the injured Dembele. Other than that, largely non-existent.

Moussa Sissoko 5 – Came on for Son for some fresh legs in midfield.
