  • Arsene Wenger left Arsenal at the end of last season after a 22-year spell.

Former Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger concedes he was wrong to stay at the club for as long as he did.

“Staying at the same club for 22 years,” the Frenchman said when radio broadcaster RTL asked him to pick out the biggest mistake of his career.

“I’m someone who likes to move around a lot, but I also like a challenge. I’ve been a prisoner of my own challenge at times.”

Wenger stood down from the Arsenal job at the end of last season, having led the club to seven FA Cup triumphs and three Premier League titles, including the legendary Invincibles side of 2003-04, which went the whole league season unbeaten.
