By using official club hashtags, Twitter posts included the badge of all twenty EPL clubs. It was also introduced to show the badges of the respective clubs via the matchday hashtags; such as #MUNvTOT for the season opener between Manchester United and Tottenham Hostpur.

This initiative follows the series of hashflags that have further added colour to sporting events such as the football and cricket World Cups and the IPL over the course of the past 12 months.

Twitter announced that the initiative will run until the final match of the first weekend on Monday between West Brom and Manchester City and will reappear over the course of the season during key moments such as the two transfer deadline days and the final day of the season.
