  • The top 10 players from the group stages

The 2016 European Championship has moved into the knockout stages and Sport360 looks back at the best players who helped get their respective teams to the round of 16.

Here are the top 10 players so far as voted by you using valorafutbol.com‘s ranking system.

    ANDRES INIESTA – SPAIN

With no Xavi Hernandez by his side and no Lionel Messi ahead of him, the experienced midfield has had the spotlight to himself during Spain’s Euro 2016 campaign and he hasn’t disappointed.

Orchestrating play with great vision and precision passing, Iniesta has popped up everywhere for the Spaniards and has been at the heart of their attacking play.

    LUKA MODRIC – CROATIA

The Real Madrid man has only played a little over a game and a half so far in the tournament after going off in the game against Czech Republic through injury. However, he’s still done enough to make an impression with his stunning volley against Turkey already being touted as the goal of the tournament.

    DIMITRI PAYET – FRANCE

The 28 year-old enjoyed a phenomenal season with West Ham United but his stock has only risen at Euro 2016 as he’s emerged as the main man for the host nation and tournament favourites, France.

His incredible ability to create chance after chance and his two spectacular goals so far, have made him an early candidate for the player of the tournament.

    GARETH BALE – WALES

The only player to score in all three game of Euro 2016, Bale has certainly lived up to his tag as Wales’ talisman.

    IVAN PERISIC – CROATIA

The Inter Milan man has been one of Croatia’s chief attacking threats. His goal in their third fixture sunk Spain and also saw Croatia progress as group winners.

    JOSHUA KIMMICH – GERMANY

The 21 year-old was hugely impressive at right-back and has been touted as the replacement for Philipp Lahm that Joachim Low’s been searching for.

    SHKODRAN MUSTAFI – GERMANY

The German centre-back has been in fine form during the competition. He made the most interceptions in the first round of fixtures but was replaced by Mats Hummels in the following game.

    IVAN RAKITIC – CROATIA

The Barcelona midfielder has featured in all of Croatia’s group games and has been a driving force from midfield. His forward runs and link-up play in the attacking third has made him a real threat.

    TONI KROOS – GERMANY

The Real Madrid midfielder has bossed the middle of the park. His passing stats have been off the charts and he’s orchestrated Germany’s attacks with aplomb.

    JOE ALLEN – WALES

A surprise inclusion for sure, but the Welsh fans won’t think so. Wales have surpassed expectations so far and Joe Allen has had a huge part to play in that. Passes, interceptions and chances; he’s provided the lot.
