  • Summer signing: Neymar cost Barcelona a reported fee of €57million.

Barcelona presidet Sandro Rosell is to face a lawsuit before a Spanish judge over the club’s signing of Neymar from Santos.

Jordi Cases, a Barcelona club member, alleges that the actual amount paid for the Brazilian was more then the €57million stated and that Rosell misappropriated funds.

"The lawsuit is against Rosell, not against Barca. We don't think that somebody kept the money," Cases told Spanish newspaper El Pais.

"We only want to know how they account for the expenditures, because it isn't clear.”

Neymar moved to the Nou Camp in June 2013, with the La Liga champions beating off competition from Real Madrid for his signature.

Rosell and other Barcelona board members have previously claimed that confidentiality clauses prevent them from revealing the exact amount of the transfer.

The €57million spent was divided up between Santos and the three companies who owned the 21-year-old’s rights.

The judge overseeing the lawsuit, Pablo Ruz, has asked to see a number of documents concerning the transfer.

These include two Barcelona contracts, worth a combined total of over €16million, which were supposedly for the rights of three Santos youth players and two friendlies against the Brazilian club.

Rosell, who became president of the Catalan giants in 2010, is willing to answer any questions regarding the lawsuit.

"We respect all the contracts we sign," said Rosell.

"That's why I would be delighted for the judge to summon me for questioning so I can explain all the questions related to the contract."
