The gap between seasons always feels an eternity, although the magnificent World Cup in Brazil certainly helped our withdrawal symptoms – but now it is back to business for the 20 clubs in England's top flight.

Weaknesses: A defensive trio of Evans, Smalling and Jones lacks a leader and there remain concerns in central midfield despite Herrera’s impressive pre-season.
NEWCASTLE UNITED
