  • Returning stars: Manchester United's Wayne Rooney (L) and Manchester City's Yaya Toure

The Premier League’s biggest derby takes place on Sunday as Manchester City battle rivals Manchester United at the Etihad Stadium.

Six points below table-toppers Chelsea, the Citzens will be looking to get back into the title race by picking up a win against the Red Devils.

United, on the other hand, will be coming to the blue side of Manchester with hopes of silencing their "noisy neighbours" for the first time this season.

To garner an insight into the minds of the two sets of fans we asked members of the respective supporters' clubs to share with us their predictions, likely line-ups and players to watch.

This weekend sees the first Manchester derby of the season, with current champions Manchester City coming off two defeats in the last week and United growing in confidence with their draw at home against league leaders Chelsea. This could be a season-changing game for both teams.

City are without the magician, David Silva, which is a major setback but Yaya Toure looks to have recovered from his midweek knock and will start alongside a fit again Samir Nasri. There will be a bit of Argentine flair in this game with the Premier League's best right-back in Pablo Zabaleta taking on his fellow countryman Angel Di Maria, and Sergio Aguero will be looking to get one over on international team-mate Marcos Rojo.

Last season all went the way of the Citizens with big wins at home and away, which eventually lead to Manuel Pellegrini's men being crowned champions.

City will look to put pressure on United's weak defence by possibly playing Toure in a more advanced role sitting behind Aguero; the Ivorian has been quite prolific in the past few derbies scoring in three of his last four. With a strong squad to choose from, Manuel Pellegrini could opt for the Brazilian midfield pairing of Fernando and Fernandinho, which would allow Yaya to move forward. Toure has taken a lot of flak in the past few weeks and has yet to find any sort of form he had last season. Let's hope this is the kickstart he needs.

There is a lot riding on the game so early into the season. City need to show their champion credentials and bounce back from two losses in a week and United need to show they are ready to challenge for a spot in the top four. City must keep close to league leaders Chelsea and nothing other than a win will be talked about in Manchester.

Predicted result:  Man City 2-0 Man United

Manchester City’s player to watch: Kun Aguero – Without doubt the best striker in the Premier League, Sergio will be fired up for the game and is searching for bragging rights among the Argentine contingency in Greater Manchester area. He will be looking to add to his tally of 11 for this season. Aguero had a bit of bad luck in his last start, hitting the woodwork and seeing West Ham goalkeeper Adrian pull off a few decent saves to deny him. He will be looking to put that right this weekend and add to the recent defensive woes of United.

Possible line up: Hart; Zabaleta, Kompany, Demichelis, Kolorov; Milner, Fernando, Fernandinho, Nasri, Yaya; Aguero

Where to watch: The Abu Dhabi Blues, the only official MCFC supporters club in the UAE will gather at McGettigans in KCA for those fans off the island and at NRG in Le Meridien for those in downtown Abu Dhabi. For those up in Dubai, gather at the Crown & Lion in Byblos Hotel, Al Barsha.

Whether you look at our last result as two points dropped or one point gained, the manner in how United got the draw is definitely morale boosting. It should give our side extra confidence in addition to the return of club captain Wayne Rooney. Few would have thought United fans would be demanding that Maroune Fellaini starts, but after two impressive performances it only makes sense.

Alex Song was too strong for the City midfield and overpowered them with ease in last week’s victory and it should be more of the same from the big Belgian as he has done it to them before at his old club Everton.

Questions over the fitness of Rooney remain, but reports suggest he will overcome any minor injury picked up in training.

It could be the third straight game in which United have the same back four which will only be beneficial. However, Phil Jones is on the way back and that adds some welcome competition for places.

The key to controlling the game will be in how quickly United take control of midfield. West Ham were fast out the blocks and caught City off guard and it needs to be more of the same from whoever is selected. It’s time to silence those "noisy neighbours".

City are not having the best of times. Losing to West Ham and deservedly so, their confidence is rocked. Newcastle outplayed them in the Capital One Cup game on Wednesday, and Silva and Toure looked to have picked up an injury each – though the latter is expected to return. Aguero has been in impressive form since returning from injury and could well line up as the sole striker as he did against Spurs to devastating effect.

Looking at the table, Swansea and Liverpool have tricky fixtures so the opportunity is there for United to close the gap on the top four. City wont be easy to beat at the Etihad but the time has come for a statement-making performance from Louis van Gaal's men.

Predicted result: Man City 1-2 Man United – Much depends on the fitness of Silva and Toure. The confidence United will have from last week’s result might see them over the line.

Predicted United line-up: De Gea; Rafael, Smalling, Rojo, Shaw; Blind, Di Maria, Fellaini, Herrera; RVP, Rooney

Manchester United’s player to watch: Maroune Fellaini – He has always caused City problems and is coming in after two strong performances with a goal and an assist

Where to watch: Our local supporters' club will be watching the game at our main venue at Dubai Harvesters in Crowne Plaza Sheikh Zayed Road. Some of us can also be found in Nara Shisha Café and Stars 'N' Bars for our Abu Dhabi-based fans.
