  • Jorge Lorenzo is a die-hard Barcelona fan.

Europe's most high-profile football fixture takes place on Sunday night, with Real Madrid versus Barcelona – a contest that transcends traditional sporting boundaries.

Lifelong Barca fan and two-time MotoGP champion Jorge Lorenzo is just one sports star outside the football sphere who will be keeping a close eye on matters at Camp Nou.

And Lorenzo is confident his beloved Blaugranas will be victorious, although he is predicting a tense showdown.

"It is always a lottery, this kind of match,” Lorenzo, in Dubai ahead of the opening race of the MotoGP season in Qatar next week, told Sport360. "Even if someone seems to be stronger like Barcelona in this case, anything can happen in the Clasico."

The MotoGP star believes that Barca's attacking trident of Lionel Messi, Neymar and Luis Suarez will make the difference against Madrid, adding: "We have an unbelievable trio. We are very lucky to have them especially now that Luis Suarez is strong again like before.

"Neymar and Lionel Messi flow very well together. We are very lucky!”

Madrid took the Clasico honours last time out, beating their arch-rivals 3-1, but have only done the league double over Barca's once in the last 30 years (2007).

Lorenzo appreciates the quality that Carlo Ancelotti's side have in their cavalry but he is convinced that Barca’s improved defensive unit can keep them at bay.

"Real Madrid are very strong. Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema, Toni Kroos, James Rodriguez – they are very strong but I trust Barcelona."

    Jorge Lorenzo’s El Clasico prediction:

“I will be happy if we win by just one goal. 2-1 or 1-0 to Barcelona.”
