  • David de Gea will prove a tough act to follow at Manchester United should he leave.

With David de Gea's future looking uncertain at Manchester United, Sport360 takes a look at the players that could replace the Spaniard in-between the posts.

    Victor Valdes

    Manchester United

De Gea's injury leaves him as the current incumbent, and, an impressive display agaisnt Hull may go some way into convincing Van Gaal he's the man for the job. Vastly experienced outside of the premier league, however, the question mark remains over his suitibility to the more physical side of the English game. If United fail to sign anybody, Valdes makes a solid insurance policy.

Valdes has only played one game for Manchester united season so far.

    Petr Cech
    Chelsea

Probably the worlds best backup keeper at the moment, the Czech has made just sic league appearences for Chelsea having lost his place to Thibaut Courtois at the start of the season. At 32, its unlikely he would want to hang around Stamford Bridge for much longer. His abilities and leadership make him an attractive accomodity. However, with PSG also interested, would Chelse willingly sell him to an English rival?

Petr Cech has made just four appearances for Chelsea this season so far.

    Hugo Lloris
    Tottenham

The most expensive of the obvious options due to the fact that he still has 4 years remaining on his contract with Spurs and also because Daniel Levy loves nothing better than to drive a hard bargain. Lloris though is viewed by some as the Premier League's best keeper, is still a relativly youthful 28 years old and is captain for both his club and country, which can help shape an often haphazard United defence. Champions League football will also appear to the French star.

Hugo Lloris has been in fine form with 138 saves for Tottenham this season.

    Samir Handanovic
    Internazionale

Serie A's penelty saving expert has turned down a series of contract offers from Inter, only fueling the liklihood he will leave the San Siro this summer. With a year left on his present deal with the Nerazzurri, the Slovenian would be extremly affordable and has the physicality and experience that implies he would be a success in England. The 30 year old is also determined to play in the Champions League meaning negotiations should be swift.

Samir Handanovic has made public his desire to play in the EPL.

    Asmir Begovic
    Stoke

Petr Cech's expected departure means Chelsea will also be in the market for a new goalkeeper but the 27 year old Bosnian is said to only want first-team football. Begovic is out of contract next summer and, so far, has shown little willingness he wants to extend his five year stay at Stroke. An assured and technically-sound keeper, his transfer would make a lot of sense.

Man U will have to move quickly for Begovic as Chelsea may need to replace Cech.
