With its rousing matchday experiences, cheap ticket prices, and its guarantee of goal-laden games – the Bundesliga had the highest goals per game average of Europe’s top five leagues in the 2015/16 season – there are plenty of reasons why the league can lay claim to be the most entertaining one to watch.
Even with Bayern Munich’s seldom-challenged monopoly of the title, there is plenty of intrigue, from seeing which team will emerge as a challenger to the Bavarian side to an always-exciting relegation battle made even more dramatic by the relegation playoff between the 16th-placed team in the Bundesliga and the third-placed Bundesliga 2 side for the final spot in next season’s top flight.
