  • Recoba played for Inter for more than a decade and scored 72 goals for the Nerazzurri, forging a reputation as one of the finest free-kick takers in the game.

    Here, Sport360 presents you the 10 of his most memorable set-piece strikes.

    AUGUST 1997: INTER MILAN VS BRESCIA

    Recoba marked his Inter Milan debut in memorable style with two magnificent goals – the second of which was the sort of curling effort for which he would come to be well known.

    MARCH 1999: VENEZIA VS FIORENTINA

    On loan at Venezia, Recoba rips Fiorentina apart with two superb free-kicks in a 4-1 win.

    APRIL 2002: INTER MILAN vs PIACENZA

    Recoba wraps his boot around the ball in brilliant fashion, firing home into the top right corner to give Inter Milan a 2-1 lead against Piacenza.

    FEBRUARY 2003: INTER MILAN VS ROMA

    A splendid free-kick from the Uruguyan gives his side a 3-1 lead against Roma, with both Inter coach Hector Cuper and the crowd left in awe at the touch of class.

    MAY 2004: INTER MILAN vs EMPOLI

    A touch of precision from Recoba gives Inter a 2-1 lead against Empoli.

    APRIL 2007: INTER MILAN vs EMPOLI

    Recoba scored his last ever goal for Inter Milan with an Olympic goal,  direct from a corner, in a victory at the San Siro.  

    OCTOBER  2012: Nacional vs Liverpool

    Back in his native Uruguay, Recoba continued to weave his magic from the corner flag for Nacional.

    JANUARY 2014: NACIONAL VS ARGENTINOS

    And again! Another direct from a corner – he scored four in all for Nacional direct from corners.

    NOVEMBER 2014: NACIONAL VS PENAROL

    An amazing free-kick helps Nacional secure a 2-1 victory over bitter rivals Penarol.
