  • Douglas Costa has excelled on loan for Juventus.

Juventus have confirmed that they have activated a €40million clause, to make Douglas Costa‘s loan move from Bayern Munich permanent.

The Serie A champions initially paid a €6million loan fee last summer for the Brazilian winger, who blossomed into one of the team’s best players over the course of the season.

“Juventus have exercised the option for the definitive acquisition of the registration rights of Douglas Costa from Bayern Munich for €40 million to be paid in two financial years,” the club said in a statement.

“Juventus and the player signed a contract of employment until 30 June 2022.”

The club also said that Bayern could be due a further €1million based on clauses in the transfer agreement pertaining to Costa’s future performances.

The 27-year-old had six goals and 14 assists in 47 appearances, while his 106 successful dribbles in the league placed him atop Serie A’s list.

Costa had joined Bayern in 2015 after a €30million move from Shakhtar Donetsk, and had a strong debut campaign with the Bundesliga club. However, he struggled to progress from there and was allowed to leave last summer.
