  • Cristiano Ronaldo will improve Juve's shot at Champions League glory.

There’s been speculation that Juventus‘ pursuit of Cristiano Ronaldo was made with the Champions League in mind, in the hope that adding the talismanic striker would get them over the hump in Europe’s premier competition.

Juventus have made the final twice in the last four seasons, losing once to Ronaldo and Real Madrid, who also dumped them out in a pulsating quarter-final tie last season.

Given the Turin side’s hegemony over the Serie A – they’ve won seven straight league titles – European glory is now viewed as the holy grail for the Old Lady, and the recruitment of Ronaldo puts them among the favourites.

However, manager Massimiliano Allegri says adding the 33-year-old has not changed anything in terms of the club’s ambitions.

“Our objectives are always the same, with or without Ronaldo,” Allegri said. “We want to win all competitions.”

“Ronaldo obviously is here to help us continue to obtain our objectives.”

See what else Allegri had to say in the video below.
