  • Juventus manager Massimiliano Allegri hailed Cristiano Ronaldo‘s mental strength after the star striker scored a vital late goal in the side’s 2-0 win over Frosinone on Sunday.

Ronaldo’s 81st-minute goal broke the deadlock in a difficult game for the Serie A champions, before Federico Bernardeschi wrapped up the points with an injury-time strike.

For Ronaldo, it was instant redemption after his controversial sending off in midweek, during his Champions League debut for the club, a moment that saw him leave the field in tears.

“Cristiano Ronaldo had many chances and that happens because good balls always end to players that are able to score goals in the box,” Allegri said after the game.

“He missed some of these chances, in a few occasions he has been unlucky with the rebounds, but his strength is the fact that he is always into the match, even if he doesn’t score straight away.

“And that’s what happened because to score a goal like that towards the end means that he has a mentality stronger than the others.”
