  • After falling down the pecking order at Real Madrid this season, Isco’s future at Real Madrid is currently up in the air, with a long-mooted move away from the club more likely than ever to happen this summer.

Each year, the Spaniard seems to be been linked with a transfer away from the Bernabeu. However, Isco finally appears frustrated enough to leave given his limited game time in 2016-17.

Here are the three clubs that he could possibly go to during the summer…

    JUVENTUS

The reigning Serie A champions are currently favourites to sign Isco should he decide to leave Real Madrid. Following the departure of Paul Pogba to Manchester United last summer, the Italians have a huge void to fill in the centre of midfield, particularly with the likes of Claudio Marchisio and Sami Khedira starting to age.

Juve boss Max Allegri is reportedly a big fan of the Spaniard and his side have been lacking creativity in midfield this season, forcing the Italian to stop using his normal 3-5-2 setup in favour of an attacking 4-2-3-1 formation. Although the change has slightly improved the performances, it could turn out to be a concern if a creative midfielder is not brought in the summer.

Since the link-up play between the midfielders and attackers has not been effective this term, Isco would be regarded as an instant fix, with the current Juventus team scoring fewer goals than both Roma and Napoli in the league this season.

    BARCELONA

Yes, you are reading this correctly. Despite it being unlikely, Barcelona could certainly do with an individual as talented and intelligent as Isco. Since Xavi decided to end his 24-year relationship with the Blaugrana, there has been a big hole in the Barca midfield.

This could be addressed if they were to sign the Real Madrid player, who has long been touted as an heir apparent to Xavi’s throne with the Spain national team. Isco is a better footballer than a number of those trying to forge a spot in the Barcelona midfield, including the likes of Andre Gomes and Denis Suarez.

Always a risky move for any player to make given the guaranteed negative response from fans of the club being left, the cross-rivalry switch would definitely make sense in footballing terms for Isco and Barcelona.

    MANCHESTER CITY

Isco has long been linked with a move to the Etihad Stadium, with Pep Guardiola reportedly increasingly interested in signing the midfielder. A move would, on the surface, appear be a match in heaven for both City and Isco, a genuine ball-player who could integrate seamlessly into Guardiola’s favoured possession system.

Guardiola has not enjoyed the best debut season and a signing like Isco would be a major statement.

Yes, City do have a lot of options in the centre of the pitch at the moment, but Isco would still be a great addition at the heart of midfield.
