Here, Press Association Sport runs the rule on the Portugal superstar’s performance in the shock 1-0 home defeat.

    DISCIPLINE

Having been handed his lengthy suspension for shoving referee Ricardo de Burgos Bengoetxea moments after being sent off against Barcelona, it was no surprise to see Ronaldo on his best behaviour at the Bernabeu.

    CREATIVITY

Ronaldo’s first touch of the ball was a trick, collecting Luka Modric’s pass and immediately jinking back inside.

His partnership with Gareth Bale also showed glimpses of getting back to its devastating best.

    GOAL THREAT

An attempted backheel towards goal was blocked by a sea of green Betis shirts, a header was planted uncharacteristically over the crossbar and a first-time effort from inside the box also flew too high.

    OVERALL

Not the result Ronaldo or Real wanted as they attempt to make up ground at the top of the table.

It was not for the want of trying on behalf of the Portugal international, but he did not quite have his eye in on the night.
