The El Clasico on Sunday night might not have held much importance, but was certainly not short of entertainment as both Barcelona and Real Madrid came all guns blazing at each other.
And while Los Blancos searched for a winning goal there was an incident when Uruguayan striker Luis Suarez was lying injured on the ground but the visitors didn’t put the ball out of play.
Sergio Ramos has now revealed that based on his previous experience with the forward, he told his team not to send the ball out of play, a decision that got the Camp Nou whistling and agitated.
“Knowing Luis Suarez, I made clear that we wouldn’t put the ball out of play,” the defender explained during the post-match press conference.
“We aren’t here to educate anyone, I have enough with my three children at home.
“That’s the referee’s job.”We wanted to win at that moment..”
Brazilian Marcelo also shared the same opinion about the incident.
“We knew that Suarez’s injury wasn’t serious, that’s why we didn’t put the ball out of play.
“Not because we didn’t want to.”
The game ended in a 2-2 stalemate though, with Barcelona’s unbeaten league run still intact.
