  • Real Madrid drew 2-2 with Villarreal in their final La Liga match of the season.

Here, we rate the performances of Real Madrid players.

Zidane 6. Mixed debut for the 20-year-old. Although he conceded twice in the second half, he did brilliantly to push Sansone’s curling free kick over the cross bar earlier in the contest.

Marcelo 7. Let his man slip too easily for Villarreal’s second goal but was his usual attacking self at the other end, providing the assist for Ronaldo’s goal.

Ramos 7. As industrious as ever. The Spaniard is a real fulcrum in the Madrid defence and always does his best to try and influence proceedings.

Varane 6. Was turned for pace with ease for Martinez goal after 70 minutes. Needs to tighten up more on his marking and positioning to contain the impact of Salah and Co in Kiev.

Carvajal 7. Worked his socks off and made some important tackles, but should have been positioned better to cut down the space in the lead up to Villarreal’s first goal.

Kroos 8.  Vital component in Madrid’s midfield – and alongside Modric in full flight – made some powerful surges forward. Had one glorious chance in the first half but his rocket of a shot spun over the crossbar. Booked for a poor foul late on.

Casemiro 7. Kept regularly involved without ever making the real telling pass that would have killed the game off. Made a crucial tackle on Unal down the right wing when a goal opportunity looked on for the home side.

Modric 7. Lively enough but things just didn’t click for him on the night. Saw yellow for a poorly timed challenge on Soriano in the second half. Hauled off after 62 minutes.

Isco 7. Controlled the game and looked so calm when in possession. Must start the Champions League final.

Ronaldo 8. Fine return to action following an ankle injury and capped off his performance with a 450th goal in a Real Madrid shirt. Looks sharp ahead of next week’s European clash in Ukraine.

Bale 7. Weighed in with a superb goal after 11 minutes. Has been outstanding the last few weeks but still not certain whether Zidane will select him in the starting line-up against Liverpool.

    SUBSTITUTES

Vazquez 6. Teed up Benzema for a goal chance and had a failed penalty appeal.

Benzema 6. Had one effort saved by Fernandez and attempted to strike a late winner but did little otherwise.

Kovacic 6. Dispossessed Al Dawsari with a sliding tackle with eight minutes remaining.
