  • Liverpool stopped Loris Karius

West Brom produced a dramatic late comeback to earn a 2-2 draw against Liverpool at the Hawthorns.

The hosts were 2-0 down with a little over 10 minutes to play after Danny Ings and Mohamed Salah found the target for Liverpool.

However, goals from Jake Livermore and Salomon Rondon snatched a point for the relegation-destined club.

Here, we rate Jurgen Klopp’s side.

    LIVERPOOL 4-3-3

Loris Karius – Looked really ungainly at times, unease with picking up pieces from Klavan errors which filtered into his hesitancy for West Brom’s equaliser. 5

Joe Gomez – Recovered from an ankle injury to take his spot at right-back and was largely comfortable with the host’s targeting Liverpool’s left. 6

Virgil van Dijk – Wins more heads than a coin toss – his five aerials won was the most for Liverpool. An adult playing a kid’s game in comparison to the rest of the back four. 7

Ragnar Klavan – Liverpool were an absolute mess on the left side and the Estonian shares blame for that with Moreno. Awkward distribution and poor positionally. 5

Alberto Moreno –  A horrible hypocrisy of doing too much with the ball at the back, and too little in attack. Ran back into traffic whenever he ventured forward, left so many gaps defensively. 5

Gini Wijnaldum – The Dutchman has been in fine form recently, flourishing as Liverpool’s No6 but he faded against West Brom. Looked limited in the first 45 and failed to come on strong after the break as he has done of late. 6

Jordan Henderson – The captain is harshly critiqued largely because he wears the armband but this performance only added fuel to his detractor’s fire. Looked slow on the ball and offered little defensively or offensively. 6

James Milner – Was the standout of Liverpool’s midfield trio. Brilliant engine and provided thrust through the middle. 7

Mohamed Salah – Should been credited with the winner for his side but for West Brom’s unlikely comeback. His 31st Premier League goal of the season was a delight, dare it be said Messi-esq in his ability to lift the ball over goalkeepers. Looked more of a threat when he switched centrally. 7

Danny Ings – The picture of relief as he scored his first goal for 930 days. His career under Jurgen Klopp has been slaughtered by injuries but he worked hard against the Baggies and few were more deserving of a goal. 7

Sadio Mane – The Senegalese is the unsung hero of Liverpool’s terrible trio and he’s really rising to prominence in the home straight. Exquisite play in the lead-up to Ings’ early opener. 7

    SUBSTITUTES

Firmino – Was shunted out onto the right when he arrived on the scene but won a good header to launch the attack for Liverpool’s second. 6

Oxlade-Chamberlain – Bright when he came on past the hour mark. Gave Liverpool real drive from midfield and provided a perfect pass for Salah to score. 7

Dejan Lovren – Was brought on with five minutes left to see the game out but struggled to grip his man Rondon for the late equaliser. 5
