  • Liverpool’s attempts to wrap up a quick deal for coveted Lyon playmaker Nabil Fekir have reached deadlock amid background interest from Bayern Munich, according to reports.

Fekir, 24, has emerged as a major target for the defeated Champions League finalists. But negotiations to conclude a move – valued up to £61 million (Dh299.6m) – for the France international before World Cup 2018 are proving difficult as Les Gones drag their feet about a price and attempt to drum up other interest elsewhere.

L’Equipe journalist Bilel Ghazi provided the latest report on the situation.

He tweeted: “No transfer should occur before Fekir’s return to Clairefontaine [France’s training base, for Tuesday]. Negotiations between Liverpool and Lyon have not changed since last week.

“And as revealed by L’Equipe last Thursday, the interest of Bayern Munich can change the game.”

Fekir has scored 57 times in 153 matches for Lyon since making his debut in August 2013.
