  • Russia coach Stanislav Cherchesov has revealed that his team knows how to cope with Mohamed Salah when they face Egypt in their second group stage fixture of World Cup 2018.

Salah had a stunning domestic season for Liverpool, scoring 44 goals in all competitions and will be making a comeback after missing Egypt’s 1-0 defeat to Uruguay.

Speaking after Russia’s training session prior to the hosts nations’ second fixture of the tournament, coach Cherchesov said he wasn’t much concerned about the forward’s hyped up return.

“We know how to play against him,” he said.

“We are ready to stop Salah and we will.”

Russia ended a long seven-match winless streak after defeating Saudi Arabia 5-0 in the first game of World Cup 2018.

Egypt on the other hand, conceded a late goal against Uruguay, thanks to José Giménez header off a corner, and will be hoping Salah’s presence will boost their qualifying hopes.

Russia goalkeeper Igor Akinfeev however, when asked about the 26-year-old said, “Would I prefer to see Salah play or not? I do not even know how to respond.”

“I would prefer to see my team win.”
