  • Liverpool goalkeeper Loris Karius has found support in the form of team-mate Mohamed Salah after being the brunt of more criticism.

The 25-year old made an error in stoppage time that led to a goal for Borussia Dortmund in the pre-season International Champions Cup game on Sunday.

Karius’ performances have been under the microscope ever since his blunder cost Jurgen Klopp‘s men in the 3-1 Champions League final defeat to Real Madrid.

After the friendly, Karius slammed his critics on Instagram, writing: “To those who take joy in seeing other people fail or suffer, I feel for you.

“Whatever it is that is happening in your life to hold this much anger and hate, I pray that it passes and good things come to you.”

The German received the backing of former Spain goalkeeper Iker Casillas after being criticised – and his Reds team-mate Salah.

The Egyptian star sent out a tweet to motivate Karius while advising him not to bother with those who write him off.

“Stay strong Karius, it has happened to the best of players. Ignore those who hate.@LorisKarius,” Salah wrote.
