Unsurprisingly, Neymar is the highest-paid player in the league, with a gross annual salary of €48.9million. His cost to PSG is €64million – which is nearly the entire annual budget of league rivals Bordeaux, who pay out €65million a year.
Only five other teams have an operating budget more than what the Ligue 1 winners pay out to Neymar – Lyon, Monaco, Marseille, Lille, and Saint-Etienne.
Neymar’s salary is even more eye-catching given the gap to the second-highest paid player in the league, his team-mate Edinson Cavani. The PSG striker earns €18.4million a year.
Monaco’s Radamel Falcao is the lone non-PSG player in the top 10, with an annual wage of €13.8million putting him at fifth in the list.
