The transfer saga that just runs and runs.
The Brazilian superstar, who starred during the Yellows’ pre-World Cup friendly victory over Croatia at Anfield on Sunday June 3, apparently met with a Los Blancos emissary ahead of the game.
Sources have also revealed that Los Blancos have been in constant contact with the 26-year-old’s people amid speculation he could end his one-season stint with Paris Saint-Germain this summer.
It would, however, take another world-record fee to prise Neymar away from the Parc des Princes – given the Ligue 1 giants shelled out €222 million for his services 12 months ago.
Speculation is ongoing that the Whites will sign the Brazilian icon this summer in a huge transfer but the man in charge of the Spanish top-flight feels Los Blancos are not in a position to virtually double the transfer fee in which Paris Saint-Germain paid to Barcelona last summer.
“Real Madrid aren’t going to pay the €400m needed for Neymar,” 55-year-old Tebas is reported as saying by Marca.
However, he did also state that if any team was to break the glass ceiling with such a deal, it would be the Whites.
“The numbers that they generate can put them close to being able to undertake such a signing,” he added.
Brazil’s chief medical officer Rodrigo Lasmar remains uncertain over Neymar‘s ability to play a full 90 minutes just yet.
The Paris Saint-Germain star made his return from a three-month injury lay-off just last week.
He scored a terrific goal to help his side beat Croatia 2-0 in a friendly ahead of the World Cup.
“Look, it’s certain that he has better conditions to play than the previous game. He can start a match,” Lasmar said.
“Whether he will play or not the entire 90 minutes, it will be a situation we monitor during the game, see whether he is tired or not. It will be an analysis to be performed during the match.”
Brazil play their first match against Switzerland on June 17.
