  • Real Madrid cruised to a 5-0 win over Sevilla at the Santiago Bernabeu on Saturday.

Cristiano Ronaldo followed up his fifth Ballon d’Or with a brace on the night while Achraf Hakimi, Toni Kroos and Nacho were also on the score sheet.

Here, we rate the players from both sides.

    REAL MADRID

Navas: Barely had anything to do as Sevilla’s powder-puff attack failed to trouble him. 6

Achraf: Scored his first goal at senior level with a calm finish which typified his overall performance. The 19 year-old has only played 9 first team games for Madrid but already looks very comfortable and confident. 8

Vallejo: Showed good anticipation to snuff out a couple of early Sevilla attacks and is gradually making himself feel at home at this level as Madrid’s fourth-choice centre back. 7

Nacho: Mr Dependable opened the scoring with a smart close-range finish after two minutes, and continued his relentless consistency by barely putting a foot wrong. 8

Marcelo: Made a full contribution to his team’s comfortable win with a dynamic display from left—back. One forward burst won a penalty for the third goal. Did well enough defensively against Navas. 7

Vazquez: Never stopped running down the right wing. His shot forced the corner for the opener, and he set up Kroos’s goal with a precise pass. An energetic livewire for Los Blancos. 7

Modric: Smooth and elegant, with his confident and constructive use of the ball helping his team seal the victory by half-time. Had a curling shot saved. 7

Kroos: Scored a lovely goal on the counter-attack to cap a typically smooth display. Given a rest by Zidane when he was replaced for the final half-hour. 7

Asensio: A real bright spark on the left, literally running rings around Sevilla’s defence at times. Drifted inside to deliver a slick pass for Ronaldo’s first goal and always looked dangerous, finishing the game up front after Ronaldo was replaced. Didn’t score but did everything else. 8

Benzema: Madrid’s only disappointment on the day. Produced some poor touches and continued his bad run in front of goal by heading an excellent chance against the upright in the second half. 5

Ronaldo: Marked his fifth Ballon d’Or with a brace, following an assured right-footed finish with a somewhat fortunate penalty. Nearly grabbed a hat-trick with an overhead volley and is clearly getting back to his best. 8

    SUBSTITUTES

Llorente: Came on for Kroos and delivered a tidy cameo, keeping things simple in front of the back four. 6

Ceballos: A rare outing from the bench and did well enough, although it was effectively a training exercise by the team he appeared. 6

Isco: Dropped to the bench before being introduced for Ronaldo with 15 minutes remaining. Busy without penetration. 6

    SEVILLA

Rico: Made a good save just before the opener but it was all downhill from there. Maybe should have saved Ronaldo’s penalty, which was straight at him, and was slow off his line for the fifth. 5

Mercado: Struggled badly against the dual threat Asensio and Marcelo, although he didn’t receive much support from his midfield. 5

Kjaer: Perhaps Sevilla’s best player, despite forming part of a defence which conceded five. Must have felt like he was trying to hold back a flood with his bare hands during the first half. 6

Lenglet: Cumbersome and slow to close down danger, not showing the authority needed to subdue Madrid’s rampant attack. 4

Carole: Out of position and beaten for three of Madrid’s goals. Rumoured to be on the verge of a quick return to Galatasaray and on this display Sevilla fans will offer to drive him back to Istanbul. 2

Pizarro: Has been generally impressive this season but not on this occasion, badly losing the midfield battle against Kroos and Modric in the first half and offering little assistance to his back four. Improved after the break but it was too late by then. 2

Banega: Knitted together possession as his team competed well early on but proved to be a liability in defence when Madrid ran riot. Booked for a frustrated lunge on Modric. 5

F Vazquez: Supposed to be providing the visitors with a link between midfield and attack but was neither here nor there. Being substituted with 20 minutes remaining was his most conspicuous contribution. 3

Navas: Offered a constant attacking outlet for Sevilla in the first half, but struggled to find a final ball to match his approach play. Unlucky to concede a penalty for handball with a close-range deflection. 5

Muriel: Started off a pretty terrible performance with a horrendous error for the opening goal, deflecting the ball straight into Nacho’s path. Did little in attack despite some decent positions. 3

Nolito: Some nice early touches on the left but soon went missing and was nowhere to be seen defensively. Wasted his team’s best chance with a weak shot and was dragged off early in the second half. 4
