  • Dani Ceballos’s anger over his lack of game time at Real Madrid can only be good for the team, according to Dani Carvajal.

Zinedine Zidane risked alienating Ceballos even further in Real’s 3-1 comeback victory over Leganes on Wednesday night after substituting him onto the field with just 30 seconds to go.

It was just another frustrating night for the 21-year-old, who joined from Real Betis following a superb summer at the European Under-21 Championship.

The silky midfielder has made just 17 appearances – and started seven times – as Zidane, for the most part, has persisted with Casemiro, Toni Kroos and Luka Modric in the middle.

However, Carvajal believes Ceballos’ apparent irritation will only serve as healthy motivation.

“There are 24 players in the squad and we all want to play,” said Carvajal, whose side sit 14 points behind La Liga leaders Barcelona. “If someone doesn’t play and they don’t get angry it’s even bad for the team.

“Wanting to play and show what you can do is good.

“At the end of the day there are many games, so the coach is rotating a lot.

“We all have to give our all because the team benefits and if the team wins we will all be happy. The coach needs us all.

“In three days we have another game, then on Tuesday we play again, and we have to be prepared to give our all and make things difficult.

“They are the coach’s decisions, my team-mates and I will go to the death with him.”
