  • The Santiago Bernabeu was treated to an absolute goal fest as Real Madrid beat Girona 6-3 in La Liga on Sunday.

Cristiano Ronaldo scored four goals and set up another to lead the way while Lucas Vazquez and Gareth Bale also got in on the act.

Cristhian Stuani scored a brace for the visitors while Juanpe added a third.

Here, we rate the Real Madrid players in the thrilling encounter.

Keylor Navas  6: Didn’t do too much wrong but was a mere spectator as his defence deserted him. Made one good save though.

Dani Carvajal – 4Committed one clumsy foul after another. It’s a miracle they didn’t add up and he remained on the pitch. Let his man go for Girona’s first.

Nacho – 5: Suspect at the back and left Juanpe unmarked for Girona’s third. Hit the crossbar at the other end.

Raphael Varane  3: Shaky in defence. Didn’t marshal the back-line. Out-muscled by Portu in the closing stages and played a disastrous back-pass that should’ve resulted in a goal.

Marcelo 7  Didn’t make any errors in defence and was his usual attacking self at the other end, coming close to scoring and assisting.

Toni Kroos – 8: Seemed to find a bit of form again. Played some excellent passes and set up Ronaldo twice. Should’ve had a third assist but for an offside flag.

Mateo Kovacic – 6: Another lightweight performance in midfield. Did well in parts but was ultimately ineffective.

Marco Asensio – 7: Created a couple of good chances. Not at his brightest but was involved in several attacks.

Benzema – 7: Didn’t get on the score sheet – again – but still effective in the final third and bagged an assist.

Lucas Vazquez – 8: Unlucky to have a goal ruled out in the first half but scored with a good finish in the second. Was a threat throughout.

Cristiano Ronaldo  10: Scooch over Lionel Messi and Mohamed Salah. Ronaldo won’t be left out of the conversation as he continues his incredible form with four goals and an assist. Pichichi race back on!
