Zinedine Zidane insisted he has always had Karim Benzema’s back after the Frenchman scored twice to book Real Madrid a date with destiny in a third-straight Champions League final.
The much-maligned striker got both goals as Los Blancos drew 2-2 with Bayern Munich at the Bernabeu to earn a trip to Kiev for the final later this month.
“Karim showed how good player he is. He never gave up and I am happy for him,” said Zidane after the game.
