  • A summer rarely goes by without a Cristiano Ronaldo exit story – but this time he’s told his team-mates that he’s quitting Real Madrid for good.

At least that’s according to Spanish outlet Marca, who claim that Ronaldo had let his colleagues know he was seeking a fresh start weeks before the Champions League final.

That night in Kiev saw Los Blancos run out 3-1 winners over Liverpool, and while the Portugal superstar was on the periphery of the action then, he ignited talk immediately after the final whistle.

“It’s been beautiful to play for Real Madrid,” said Ronaldo, hinting that his days in the Spanish capital were over.

Ronaldo is thought to be content to be on a holding pattern as the reverberations from Zinedine Zidane’s departure, and the World Cup in Russia, takes most of his attention.

His most likely destination would be Paris Saint-Germain – freeing up Neymar to move the other way.

However, the 33-year-old’s 1 billion release clause is an obvious stumbling block and ultimately, the club holds many of the cards over a potential move.
