  • Pochettino bumped into former Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane in a London restaurant this week.

Luring Mauricio Pochettino to the Santiago Bernabeu could be the impossible job for Real Madrid, writes Marca.

The Tottenham manager is said to be top of club president Florentino Perez’s wishlist to replace Zinedine Zidane, who announced his shock resignation on Thursday.

But Spurs chairman Daniel Levy has let it be known that any attempts to poach their star manager will be met with a resounding ‘no’.

Levy and Madrid have history, with protracted negotiations over the transfers of Gareth Bale and Luka Modric from Tottenham having exasperated top brass among the Los Blancos hierarchy.

However, Perez may draw encouragement from the fact that both players did end up arriving in Madrid, and thus Pochettino, who has never hid his desire to manage Los Merengues, could also be persuaded to make the switch.
