  • Real Madrid have denied reports that a €310 million bid for Paris Saint-Germain star Neymar has been made by the European champions.

According to rumours, Neymar was being considered as the obvious replacement for Los Blnacos if Portugal forward Cristiano Ronaldo decided to leave.

The Spanish giants didn’t waste time in playing down the reports though.

“Real Madrid have made no offer of any kind to PSG or the player,” the statement read.

Spain’s public television station TVE however stood by its reporting claims, saying its sources were “most reliable”.

The report came hours after Neymar guided Brazil to a 2-0 win in the last-16 clash against Mexico.

The 26-year-old made a shock move from Barcelona to PSG last year and went on to score 19 goals in 20 Ligue 1 games for the French side, before sustaining a long-term foot injury in February that kept him out of the remainder of last season.

After recovery, Neymar did return from Brazil to Paris, but speculations about a move away from PSG after just one year have been emerging ever since.

Ronaldo meanwhile, hinted at an exit from Real Madrid after Zinedine Zidane’s secured their third consecutive Champions League win.

“It was very nice to be in Madrid,” he said, adding that “in the next few days I will give an answer to the fans”.

And while the five-time Balon d’Or winner changed his statement later, reports about his transfer have surfaced too, one of which points towards his buy-out clause being reduced from €1 billion to €120 million.
