    Real Madrid are reportedly ready to pay €80 million (£72 million) in order to land Ajax starlet Frenkie de Jong.

    According to De Telegraaf, the European champions are admirers of the Netherlands international, although they are likely to face competition from a number of fellow European elite clubs for the playmaker.

    Los Blancos beat Liverpool 3-1 in May’s final in Kiev, with Sergio Ramos, Dani Carvajal and Luka Modric seen discussing tactics pre-match – including getting close to forwards Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Man.

    Real Madrid president Florentino Perez insists Los Blancos will not travel to the United States to feature in a regular season La Liga game.

    La Liga chiefs have agreed a 15-year deal to play one game from Spain’s top-flight in the US per season, with the first one due to be Girona’s ‘home’ game with champions Barcelona, due to be played in Miami in January.

    Cristiano Ronaldo is set to miss The Best FIFA Awards Gala in London tonight, according to Marca.

    The former Real Madrid forward, who scored in Juventus’ 2-0 win over Frosinone at the weekend, will not travel to the English capital because of the three day turn around between Sunday’s game and his next Serie A match against Bologna on Wednesday.
